Rainforest Alliance – Est 1987

The Rainforest Alliance is a system endowed with a rigorous set of international standards, focusing ecological management practices. It requires: a minimum number of native forest trees per hectare; no depletion of virgin forests for coffee plantations; protection of wildlife and of natural resources; preservation of watersheds and soil; and gradual phasing-out of agro-chemicals for the implementation of biological controls. The program also emphasizes fair working conditions, adequate pay, access to proper housing and sanitation, and respect for workers.

It is the human factor that makes Daterra one of a kind. The company seeks to improve its employee’s life quality, to hone their talents and to promote the welfare of their families. Daterra’s workforce is of course free from child labor.

Quality and sustainability are our passion. Technology, research and attention to the environment during coffee production have led Daterra to be known as one of the best coffee producers in the world.

Daterra was Brazil’s first sustainable coffee farm. In 1999 Daterra became ISO 14001 certified and in 2003 became Rainforest Alliance certified, another first for Brazil.
